A friend of mine (Ed who owns the Mountaindale Inn here in Mountaindale) needed a ride up to Kingston and I volunteered my services. As I often do, grabbed my camera and tossed it into the back seat...my only regret of the day...for some reason I did not grab my Canon L series 100-400 lens. If I'd know I would see a bald eagle on a cold day in February in Kingston, it so would have been with me. Rather that blather on about my day, thought I would share a few of my pictures taken along the way.
A aspirational statement, my testimonial journal as I embark on my Isagenix journey of self discovery and improvement. Hopefully if you are here, we have met, or perhaps you are wanting to join my team, could it be that kismet brought you here...in any case, welcome to my little space where I seek answers, and hopefully answer the questions of some of you.

Lost....Isalean Bar....Reward Offered For Safe Enjoyment
![]() |
Old DeSoto...WOW
Finishing my Isalean shake, I was STOKED, convinced it was my duty to God and country to throw on some hiking shoes and go out for an adventure in the great outdoors...skipping my shower, I got right too the task at hand, getting dressed and gathering the necessary items for my great adventure...
Camera...check
Belt mounted lens case with zoon lens...check
Knit hat...check
e+ Energy Shot...check
Apartment keys...check
Realizing I was probably going to still be out scouting the countryside come lunch time, decided I should take one of my Isalean Bars with me...this was a special day, so grabbed one of my FAVORITES...the one sure to bring a smile to my face.
It was a beautiful day outside, I was anxious to head out, in a hurry...previous experience should have told me this was not wise, but come on, this WAS A PERFECT DAY!...it was as if Mother Nature herself was beckoning me to come commune with her. So, checking my gear one last time I pulled the door shut on my apartment, descended the flight of stairs and stepped out onto Main street of our small wee hamlet to greet the sun shining down on me...yes, it was a PERFECT DAY for a half hike, something more than a walk, or a jaunt, a sojourn of sorts to be one with the earth.
I walked up the street, made a left onto Post Hill Road, made another left and headed up to our Rail Trail...always a good start for such an aventure, it's path through time providing numerous opportunities to head off in different directions with each eventually ending up at the same final destination. I was a man with a plan...or perhaps a goal, or maybe I just wanted to take the day off and go out and enjoy such a beautiful day, a day that we do not often see in the midst of a cold, dark desolate winter...as I briskly strolled down the path...no, it was more than a stroll, my stride had purpose and conviction to it. It was a beautiful incredible January MONDAY, and I was blowing off work and going on a half hike. As the Blue's Brothers would say, I was on a mission!
About two miles and a few pictures into this quest a challenge, or was it a canundrum arose...I was thirsty, in need of water. I went through my various and assorted pockets...OMG...how could I have not remembered to put a bottle of water on my check list?
I hiked up and down hills, wondered off the trail scampering over slippery rocks to explore this and that, snapping a picture here, picking up an old broken bottle there to hold up to the sun as I admired the color and sparkle seen in the ancient, long discarded glass. I veered to the left, meandered to the right, always in a round about way heading in the right direction, not a care in the world.
Somewhere around 1:30 in the afternoon judging by the position of the sun, I realized all this physical excertion had me feeling in need of sustinance. It was at almost this precise moment of mental clarity that my steps had brought me to the edge of a small babbling stream, a rather large stone (probably a long ago relic left behind during the ice age) that was remarkably suited for sitting offered me a perfect place to enjoy lunch, wash it down with some icy cold water as it made its way down from the mountains that surround our area.
I tamped down the snow around the boulder...had decided it was far to big to be called just a stone. Carefully laid my camera and other gear in a safe dry place, cupped my hands and had a generous drink of the icy water, reached into my pocket for my Isalean Bar...it was not in the pocket I had put it in. Assuming I had mistaken which pocket in which it had been placed, I began methodically checking all my other pockets of which there were many. Alas, the search over and complete, a sad realization took hold...somewhere along the way in all my trapsing here and there, my beloved Isalean Bar had slipped out of my pocket, was gone!
Now I know what you are thinking..."Sherwood, its just an Isalean Bar, you can get another."
No, you don't understand...this was not just another Isalean Bar, it was my favorite Isalean Bar, a Chocolate Cream Crisp Isalean Bar, the finest in the land, a delicious low glycemic meal alternative beyond compare! With tears in my eyes I realized my Chocolate Cream Crisp Isalean Bar was gone, even worse, LOST, alone somewhere in the woods, abandoned and left to fend for itself. How could I have been so careless? MY GOD, what had I done...a poor, defenseless yet delicious Chocolate Cream Crisp Isalean Bar laying there, out in the woods, exposed and alone!
Gathering my gear, a bit desolate...AND HUNGRY, I carried on, completed my half hike...I had to, it was a duty bestowed upon me, but throughout the rest of my great adventure, my Isalean Bar was never far from my thoughts, my pangs of hunger a constant reminder of my carelessness. As the crescent moon hoovers in the cloudy night sky above I find myself worried about that poor bar, wondering if it will be all right, if it will get its chance to fulfill its own destiny of bringing a taste delight to the lips of some fortunate soul, providing them with a nourishing meal in the shape of a bar?
So if you find my beloved Isalean Bar, tear apart the protective water proof foil pack and enjoy your reward.

Mom's Hungarian Butterhorn Recipe...A Great Christmas Cookie
Even on a diet, we can still treat ourselves and our family to some Holiday Treats...I've lost over 20 pounds on Isagenix, been baking now for three days and had ONE COOKIE so that I can indulge a bit on Christmas while still keeping my eye on the prize of reaching my weight goal for this month of being under 170 pounds.
Santa's FAVORITE!
One of my fondest memories from childhood was baking Christmas cookies with my mom. She was always smiling, happy, and loved the company...every great baker needs someone to lick the beaters and put the cookie sheets in the oven. My own favorite cookie from those days where Mom's Hungarian Butterhorns. It was a family recipe...top secret. With the advent of the internet, those family recipes are not so secret any more, and there is a good chance that the "Family Recipe" has been a favorite Christmas cookie in many homes for generations, just as in my own family. For me though, the recipe and the cookies created from it will always be Mom's Hungarian Butterhorns. If you love to bake, and if you love presenting a spectacular cookie, this one is for you.
Mom's Hungarian Butterhorns
Tip...when rolling out dough for this, other pastries and pie dough, use powdered sugar! OMG, the sweetest crust you will ever bite into.
Preheat oven to 375 before rolling out dough.

Roll out dough With Powdered Sugar
Ingredients
4 Cups Flour (I always sift it once measured.)
1 teaspoon salt
1 packet yeast (I prefer the cake kind.)
1 1/4 cup butter...NOT MARGARINE!
3 egg yolks (Save the whites for later use.)
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla extract (not the imitation kind)
In mixer cream butter. Blend in egg yolks, yeast, vanilla and sour cream. Slowly begin adding flour using kneading hook (if you have one). My mom used to do this part by hand. Form large ball, cut into four wedges, make new small dough balls and place in frig for at least four hours, or overnight.

Fresh Out Of Oven
Filling Ingredients
3 Egg Whites
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup finely chopped pecans.
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
Beat egg whites till they begin to get foamy and air filled. Slowly add in Vanilla, and then the sugar beating at med high speed to make your meringue. Gently fold in pecans.
One or two of these with a festive Isagenix Isalean Shake is a perfect start to Christmas morning as you slip downstairs in your robe to get everyone a wee bite of breakfast before the unwrapping of gifts begin. Let me gift you a free Isalean Shake as a gift for visiting, and hopefully baking my Mom's Hungarian Butterhorns.

Sunday Evening...Bracing For Storm
Hurricane Sandy Could Threaten Indian Point
Last night I could not sleep, saw the Tsunami warning for Hawaii shortly after the 7.7 quake hit up in Canada...disconcerting, but my mind was already focused in on the Frankenstorm that has New York directly in its sites. Waking up this morning, you could almost feel a sense of foreboding in the air, Hurricane Sandy's clouds blanketing the sky.
I was down in Yonkers, had to drive up to Peekskill and then cross the Bear Mountain bridge, the Hudson river just beneath me...even if you had not been near a radio or television, you knew something big was brewing...dozens of military Hummers pulling trailers of supplies and equipment crossing the bridge to make their way down toward New York City from West Point.
As I made the drive the news seemed to darken, Mayor Bloomberg enlarging the mandatory evacuation area, President Obama declaring a State of Emergency even though the storm has not yet made landfall.
I've laid in emergency supplies, and feel confident of making it through...sounds funny, but if things get bad I have toilet paper, water and Isagenix...my new age survival kit. Wonder how long one could be OK in a State of Emergency like this with just my water and Isagenix. I have other things prepared, candles at the ready, fresh batteries in the flashlights, my car battery jumper, and the batteries for my battery pack tools all plugged in and charging...cell phone charged, laptop plugged in and charging down. Even without a back up generator, should be OK when the electric goes down, especially with lots of extra blankets at the ready.
What I worry about...the people who are not ready, or who have no choice but to go to the Emergency Shelters of last resort...it is scary to think about New York City shutting down all of its mass transit systems, scary to think that the Nuclear Power Plant (Indian Point) which already feel is dangerous could get flooded if the storm surge is significant enough...Fukishima on the Hudson. It is worrisome to think that the Emergency Response after the storm could decide who sits in the White House.
In short, am pensive tonight, and just pray that even in the states about to be slammed by Hurricane Sandy weather the storm, and find out afterward that they escaped pretty much intact.

Saturday Morning Isa Update
In what was a big creative moment for me, got my new Canon L series 100 lens on Monday, and have spent some part of every day since playing with it, seeing what the lens can do, and what it can do just amazes me. Never have I had the priviledge of using a lens that gives me the clarity and depth of field that this lens gives me.
Tuesday and Wednesday did my second Isagenix Cleanse. for Life deep cleanse, and because I remembered to actually eat some of my Isagenix snacks, it was a much easier experience than my first deep cleanse...On Thursday morning I took my body measurements for the first time since going on the program, and the results are miraculous. I've lost so far 16.5 total body inches, with the largest loss in my gut (Budda Belly). In just two short weeks...ended the cleanse on my 14th day of my 30 day Isagenix Cleanse, I can see a very noticable change in my body shape, and in the fact that my clothes are already fitting much looser.
Some other changes I am noticing...think of it as David Lettermans Top Ten List.
- Noticing that my eyes are sparkling again.
- My face looks healthier...I get chip munk cheeks when I gain weight, and face is thinning down.
- My finger and toenails look healthier...more pink, and less brittle.
- I am getting thinner everywhere.
- With Isagenix and the exercise I am getting, my body seems to be getting more tone and definition. Still not BUFF, but seeing tone.
- Emotionally feeling better about myself, and see myself caring more about how I look and how I present myself to the world.
- I seem to have more mental clarity, am able to focus better.
- The Isagenix combined with the water I have been drinking has my bodily functions working better.
- Find myself exciting and embracing of this new lifestyle...Isagenix is a life/lifestyle choice, not something you pick up and put down.
- My energy levels are WAY UP!
Going to go back in my post today and see how I am doing on the goals I set for myself, and already know that if I get my stationary bike ride in today, have hit one of my most important goals of the week, which was to bike or hike at least 5 out of the 7 days in the week...so, as I stated, has been just a fabulous Isagenix week. One thing I want to fucus in on more, is KNOWING THE PRODUCT, and how to best share it with friends, family and strangers. Everyone have a great day.

Evening Update...Blog Now Can Be Read In 35 Languages
I don't readily admit it, but am a bit of a Geek here. I am constantly looking for new gizmos and gadgets that make my blog accessible to a greater audience. This e vening I decided to try out the Google Language Gadget on this blog...you can find it over on the right side bar just down from the top of page. Click on the drop down menu and select your language, and instantly the blog is translated into one of 35 languages from around the world.
This for me is such exciting news for my Isagenix blog, truly will allow me to share my own journey, and the opportunity that is Isagenix to a world wide audience with the click of a mouse. Looking at the various countries that Isagenix does business in, looking at the company's potential for world wide expansion, this gadget truly excites me. Cannot wait to reach a point where I can qualify myself to sign up Associates in foreign nations around the world.
In other news of a more personal nature:
1. For those who have my blog since its inception, you'll understand the significance of this...I unburied my bike today, and tomorrow will start making it road ready.
2. Got my new Canon L series 100-400 MM Zoom lens...WOW, what a lens. Did take one picture with it...shared above, but it poured down rain ALL DAY, so it was not the day to be taking such a delicate piece of equipment out in the woods for a few hours.
3. Getting myself ready for my second two day Deep Cleanse...this time I will remember to eat my Isa Snacks.
Waiting On Camera Lens, Setting Weekly Isagenix Goals
Big thing for me today is waiting on my Canon L series 100-400 MM Zoom lens. For anyone who is familiar with digital cameras, its arrival is a BIG DEAL for me, and sure you understand it. So hurry up Fed Ex! Even though it is raining out, so wanting to get it soon enough to at least go out and play with it a little bit.
Yesterday, starting laying out a few goals that I am going to further outline below...one of them was to use my stationary bike or go hiking at least five out of the seven days this week starting today and running through Sunday. This morning I biked, covering 7.11 miles and burning off 166 calories. My goal is to look at pushing my ride time up to 48 minutes next week. Putting a nutritious super food like Isagenix into my body is not enough to take me where I want to go...I have to exercise as well. So, my goals for the week:
1. Use my stationary bike, or go out hiking (at least five miles) a minimum of five out of the next seven days from October 15-21.
2. Stick to my Isagenix Routine.
3. Do my second two day Isagenix Deep Cleanse...this starts tomorrow morning.
4. Water,,,,drink lots and lots of water each day. Right now, that means at least 90 ounces each and every day. As someone who has never been a big water drinker, this is a HUGE ONE for me...so far, have managed it.
5. Work on my blog more...already put up the new Contact Me page today, and have also put up a page that goes right to my page on the Isagenix website. So, want to keep working on this, but can check it off and it is ONLY MONDAY.
6. Keep reading Isagenix group posts, watching Isagenix videos and learning. Wanting to start putting some of the things I am learning right here on the blog so people have easy access to them.
7. Continue to work on sharing the Isagenix way of life with my friends.
8. Unload my car, take care of laundry, and clean the apartment...UGGGG...there is a full morning or afternoon's work.
9. Get my LeMond (a real bike) out, put air in the tires and get it road ready.
10. Since I cannot afford a personal trainer, do some online research on what it is I need to do to get in shape, do set goals, and come up with a workout routine.
I think that is a good list of ten goals for the week.
