Isagenix Isa Body Challenge...Reflecting Back on 90 Days

Me a Few Weeks Into Challenge
Sitting here listening to John Lennon's "Stand by Me" as I reflect back on the last 90 days, my own participation in the Isagenix Isa Body Challenge...sad that the 90 days are over gone away far to fast, yet thrilled at the new man I see standing in front of me when I look in the mirror.  It has truly been a life changing event for me, one filled with a certain amount of fear, but also a great deal of pride at where I have come.

Will take my measurements and weight myself at the end of the 9 Day Cleanse for Life I am in the midst of and weigh myself, so the final statistics are not in, but one but has to look at me to see the difference.  I've shrunk, but in a very good way, my once noticeable Budda Belly all but gone, the new smaller 36" waist pants bought at the 60 day mile marker already too big for me.  I still wear a large shirt, but they are hanging a bit on me, the sleeve seams no longer fitting tight on the shoulder blades.

Taken Around Halloween
I would be lying if I said this has been easy, though parts of it were, days, sometimes weeks breezing by without a problem, then BOOM, a brick wall that I would run smack dab into.

Thanksgiving was one of those times...I love cooking/baking, being in the kitchen, and have traditions that go back decades.  Pumpkin and Pecan pie, homemade of course.  Deviled eggs, sour cream mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, stuffing just like my Mom used to make, a large turkey because the table just doesn't feel right with a small one in the center of the table, olives of various variety, fresh green beans with almond slivers sprinkled over the top.  I was good (good being relative), had just one plate of food, and not overloaded.  Yet, a part of me wanted to FEAST.  I waited, had desert later in the evening and was so tempted the next morning to have a slice or two of pie with my morning coffee, but resisted the urge, having my IsaLean shake instead.

Stay FOCUSED on the goal, keep your eye on the prize.

A December Pic...Changing
Came into December weighing 175...met my goal for November but just barely.  That was one of those down times.  Holidays are hard, and December in some ways is one big month of Holidays, and with my Mom gone, I long ago decided I would carry on her traditions...miss her a whole lot sometimes even though she has been gone since 1993...WOW...20 years as of this May 3rd, 2013.

Tradition is important.  Spent 3 days baking dozens upon dozens of cookies and Mom's Christmas Morning coffee cake...I love her coffee cake, and in the past would DEVOUR IT...here it is January, gave three fourths of it away, have had a few small pieces, but there is still some left in the freezer.  Times change.

By the time December 26th rolled around, was really not sure I could make my own goal of hitting 170 pounds by December 31st.  I stuck to the program...mostly...but everywhere I went there were all my favorite treats.  I love Christmas ham...brown sugar glazed, pineapples and maraschino cherries candied in the baking ever so tempting, plates of cookies and cakes, and memories of Mom smiling as I went back for a second plate, or found my way into the kitchen after midnight to make myself up a plate of leftovers because everything was just so good.  Couple all this with the fact that I love food, and am guilty at times of finding comfort in food, and the holidays were a rough time.

Six days to reach my goal of 170, and I had actually GAINED one pound from the beginning of December!  Spent most of that day and the next letting self doubt creep in, started listening to those voices we need to avoid, but often don't...luckily, I'd also decided to do a two day cleanse on the 26th and 27th, and stuck to it.  On the morning of the 28th after two days on Cleanse for Life I got on the scale...173 POUNDS...I can do this, 170 is reachable, I got four days!

Motivation is a great thing!

I got on my stationary bike, cranked up my consumption of water, and religiously followed the program as I worked hard on being a product of the product, my coach's (Andrea Hameed) words burned into my mind...Chocolate or Vanilla.

In a perfect story, I would have met my goal, but fact is when I woke up on January 1, 2013 I was just shy of where I had wanted to be weighing 171 pounds.  The old me would have played the FAILURE card on myself...but, as I said, these 90 days have started to change me into who I have always been meant to be.  I went out to the kitchen, had my Isalean shake and got on with my day knowing it would only be a day or two and I would for the first time since the 1980's find myself getting on the scale and weighing under 170 pounds!

Certain things stick in my head, make me smile.  I bought two new belts when I went shopping, both of them 36 inch.   One of them has six holes in it...I was in the second one when I put it on the first time.  Last week I put the belt on, and it is in the sixth hole (inside hole), the belt now too BIG FOR ME!  That same morning I took out an old favorite denim shirt that I had bought back in 1998 at the Gap store in Plattsburgh NY.  Had not worn the shirt since 2004...NINE YEARS.  It fits, and very comfortably I might add.

NYKO 2013 is, too a great deal, over with as I write this...sure, it goes on through tomorrow, but most of this late night and tomorrow is all about goodbyes for those who were lucky enough to attend.  I sit here tonight a bit sad and melancholy as my personal 90 Day Challenge comes to an end.  Through the tears, the laughing the victories, it has been ONE HELL OF A GREAT TIME for me.  I know my journey to a new me is not over, that more victories lay ahead...but, I am sad that these very special 90 days are over, sad at having to say Goodbye to a challenge that has shown me there is a beautiful, wonderful person who has always been inside of me who is starting too emerge. But even in my melancholy I am Thankful, and know that at the end of the 90 Day Challenge I am walking into my future a winner.

Some Special Thank You's on This Special Night

Dedication... When "The Chips" Are Down...A SHOUTOUT To Amy Austin

I always like reading great testimonials from my Isagenix friends who are over on Facebook.  Being successful in losing weight means being dedicated to where you are wanting to go, especially when the "chips" are down.  This morning while catching up on Facebook I came across a testimonial from my Isa friend Amy Austin who lives in Canada.

She received a difficult phone call, and one of those old demons was sitting on her shoulder encouraging her to stop and get a bag of chips, to fall off the proverbial wagon and break her two day cleanse that she was/is being so good with.  Perhaps out of will power, or perhaps because the cosmos had her get on the scale this morning finding out she had already lost seven pounds saw her ignore that tempting voice!  WAY TO GO AMY!

Here is the link to her article.  Go give her a "Job well done" comment in her blog!

Do You Know Someone Who Personifies the "Heart Of Isagenix"

In the middle of my 2 day Deep Cleanse, thinking about everything I have experienced in the past thirty days of my 30 Day Cleanse, waiting on my product that was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy I decided to sign into my Isagenix backroom and see what was in my in box...two alerts, so openned them up and found out that Isagenix is looking for nominations for their "Heart of Isagenix" recognition.  Thought I would post the press releasae/note here so that anyone who sees it who thinks of someone deserving can act on those feelings.

As for myself...nominating my coach Andrea Hameed who, IMO, truly represents every facet of what makes Isagenix such a wonderful company, product and family.

Week In Review...My First Isagenix Training

What a what week...think the book, "What a long strange trip its been".  First, find myself missing my two day cleanse, and thinking I need to get another bottle of "Cleanse for Life" so that I can do one more before the end of my 30 day cleanse program.  I have my autoship arriving in time for next month, but find myself a bit sad knowing that my first 30 Day Cleanse is coming to an end way to quickly...can hear everyone saying, "It's not ending", and I know that!  Also know, that this 30 Day Cleanse, the process involved in going through it has been and will continue to be transformative for me, this first month completely magical in so many ways.
Healthier body at a cellular level
There are the obvious things...
  • Lost inches
  • Lost weight
  • More energy
  • More positive attitude
Then there are the other more substantial things...
  • New friends cheering me on (on Facebook)
  • Old friends commenting on how good I am looking
  • Understanding "being a product of the product"...as my coach says, Chocolate or Vanilla.
Which brings me to this past Thursday, and my first formal Isagenix Training...

WOW  DOUBLE WOW EVEN...

My coach for my 30 Day Cleanse is Andrea Hameed, and her dear friend and upline person in Isagenix is Elisabeth Anderson who had traveled to New York all the way from Oklahoma to attend a conference in New York city.  My LUCKY WEEK, turns out that Elisabeth was going to be spending some time with Andrea up in Woodstock, NY...shades of Arlo Guthrie here, and the significance of the pickle...sure some of you will smile in understanding.  Can you guess where I am going here...do you already know that I was fortunate enough (could even say graced) to have the opportunity to have my first training with both of these Isagenic Up Line Dynamos!

My take aways were many, but a couple of big ones...

You can't reinvent the wheel, so don't spend your time trying to, as it has already been done, BUT (love this but) you can create and add a beautiful spoke to the wheel.

Always look to asking the magic question.  What is the magic question...it depends, which is why when sharing Isagenix with someone else you look for them.  Let me explain through an example I had earlier in the week.

I shared the magic of Isagenix with a friend of mine who works in our little Coffee Shop/Convenience store in the hamlet of Mountaindale...that always sounds so charming...think English Accent...OK, if it is me doing it, think Monty Python..."I live in the charming hamlet of Mountaindale."

She was excited, actually moved me to close.  Everything went smoothly until it got to the part in the ordering process where I needed her Social Security number...she was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE with that, was in fact adament, did not like the thought of her social security number being shared over the internet...period, end of discussion.   It never occurred to me to ask the MAGIC QUESTION which Elisabeth provided me in the training session.  "Would you feel more comfortable if I called Isagenix Headquarters and got a customer service representative on the phone for you?"

That question NEVER OCCURRED TO ME, and because it did not occur to me, I did not close the sale that night, missed an opportunity to bring the magic of Isagenix into another person's life.

If you ever have the opportunity to do a training with these two angels, make sure you seize the opportunity, and if you read this post, start looking for those MAGIC QUESTIONS...to ELisabeth and Andrea...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

I have seven days, one week left in my 30 Day Cleanse, and find myself wishing that a month had 60 days in it, but the GREAT NEWS...my autoship is going to be arriving next week, and my journey continues.

If you would like to know the magic of Isagenix, feel free to email me or call me at (845) 693-4513...if I am not home, do please leave a message, and I will call you back.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words...A Thank You

Sometimes, bad things happen to good people and we struggle to understand the why of it, find ourselves incapable of finding the answers we seek in our struggle, feeling hopeless, sad, angry, frustrated and a whole host of other emotions.  It is in these times of trouble when some people have a beautiful way of stepping up, being there, lending a helping hand when the world seems darkest.

Last night I witnessed such a moment, and saw both the generousity and magic of the Isagenix family.

Two of my closest friends here in the tiny hamlet of Mountaindale are Kelsey and Mark who live kitty corner across the street behind the Upstate Karate studio here on Main Street.  I refer to them as kids because I'm almost 57, they in their mid 20's.  They are beautiful people, talented musicians and hard working folks.  They have a beautiful cat, and the friendliest dog (Kia) that you would ever want to meet...she is one of those loving, happy, beautiful dogs that everyone falls in love with the instant they meet her.

Yesterday the kids found out that Kia has cancer...they are at the vet's office as I type this having more testing done, finding out what stage Kia's cancer is in...needless to say, Mark and Kelsey are devastated at this news, especially since Kia is not yet five years old.  I put up a post in the isaMasterminds group on Facebook, then duplicated it in Isa Pets group...the concensus advice...reach out to Andrea who saved her dog's life (Star) with Isagenix.  I reached out to her (she is my coach), informed her that Kia's test had come in positive, that Kia has Lymphoma.

Mark, Kelsey and I were outside the Mountaindale Inn last night hugging, crying and petting Kia when my cell phone rang.  It was Andrea who was in NYC attending a conference with someone we all know.  She asked if Kelsey was there, as Jim Rhoades wanted to talk to her about Kia and what Isagenix Super Food might be able to do...WOW.  That was/is a moment, is one of those times when you realize just how truly loving and giving this Isagenix family is.

So Andrea Hameed and Jim Rhoades...THANK YOU...last night the two of you truly were God's angels, there when  dear friends of mine needed you.
