New Cancer Isa Survivor's Support Group Forms On Facebook

Cancer is something I am intimately familiar with in my life...I've not been stricken with it, but know its face all too intimately.  Cancer changes people, changes families and too often the battle fought by many, as gallant as that battle was is a battle lost, a life a soul taken from us too soon. 

  

Five days ago I saw a post in one of the Isa groups from one Candace Tweady Woods who was wanting to start a Isa support group for cancer patients, their families, friends and caregivers. 

 

There is one beautiful thing about cancer...everyone who's life it has ever touched is part of a very large extended family.  You can be sitting alone all by yourself in the waiting room while your loved one is in surgery, and someone will come over and sit beside you and start up a conversation, give you words of encouragement telling you it is all going to be just fine.  I've been on both sides of that coin, both giving and recieving those words so desparately needed in that time of darkness.  As someone who has been touched by cancer, Candace's idea of starting such a support group brought tears to my eyes...I wanted it to happen, wanted to see a group formed where people could come for support, or to vent, even just to cry through their own written words.

 

Woke up Saturday morning, and as I always do, after pouring my morning coffee went online to check Facebook only to find that the group had gone from dream into reality.  So, a special thank you to Candace Tweady Woods for providing members of the Isagenix family whose lives have been touched by cancer a very special place all their own.  It is a closed group on Facebook, but if you have had your life touched by cancer, if you are looking for a group of caring, loving people that understand because they have walked your walk, please visit the group and request to join.

Do You Know Someone Who Personifies the "Heart Of Isagenix"

In the middle of my 2 day Deep Cleanse, thinking about everything I have experienced in the past thirty days of my 30 Day Cleanse, waiting on my product that was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy I decided to sign into my Isagenix backroom and see what was in my in box...two alerts, so openned them up and found out that Isagenix is looking for nominations for their "Heart of Isagenix" recognition.  Thought I would post the press releasae/note here so that anyone who sees it who thinks of someone deserving can act on those feelings. 

 

As for myself...nominating my coach Andrea Hameed who, IMO, truly represents every facet of what makes Isagenix such a wonderful company, product and family.

Tell Us Who Has the “Heart of Isagenix”

 

It’s time to show your appreciation for that leader you know who epitomizes Isagenix®. Do they serve and help others; hold open meetings and honor their team members’ achievements? If so, then it’s time to nominate them for our special “Heart of Isagenix” award. (Vote only once though, please!)

 

Here’s what we’re looking for in this special person:

• Goes out of their way to help and inspire others to reach new heights
• Clearly sets organizational direction and purpose within their team
• Displays and reflects unique strengths, culture, values and beliefs that align with the Isagenix mission
• Helps everyone believe that they are part of something bigger than themselves by being a part of Isagenix
• Truly pays attention to people and honors others’ achievements
• Holds open meetings and regularly volunteers to train with Isagenix so they are not only helping their team members, but everyone in Isagenix as a whole

Actions Speak Louder Than Words...A Thank You

Sometimes, bad things happen to good people and we struggle to understand the why of it, find ourselves incapable of finding the answers we seek in our struggle, feeling hopeless, sad, angry, frustrated and a whole host of other emotions.  It is in these times of trouble when some people have a beautiful way of stepping up, being there, lending a helping hand when the world seems darkest.

 

Last night I witnessed such a moment, and saw both the generousity and magic of the Isagenix family.

 

Two of my closest friends here in the tiny hamlet of Mountaindale are Kelsey and Mark who live kitty corner across the street behind the Upstate Karate studio here on Main Street.  I refer to them as kids because I'm almost 57, they in their mid 20's.  They are beautiful people, talented musicians and hard working folks.  They have a beautiful cat, and the friendliest dog (Kia) that you would ever want to meet...she is one of those loving, happy, beautiful dogs that everyone falls in love with the instant they meet her. 

 

Yesterday the kids found out that Kia has cancer...they are at the vet's office as I type this having more testing done, finding out what stage Kia's cancer is in...needless to say, Mark and Kelsey are devastated at this news, especially since Kia is not yet five years old.  I put up a post in the isaMasterminds group on Facebook, then duplicated it in Isa Pets group...the concensus advice...reach out to Andrea who saved her dog's life (Star) with Isagenix.  I reached out to her (she is my coach), informed her that Kia's test had come in positive, that Kia has Lymphoma.

 

Mark, Kelsey and I were outside the Mountaindale Inn last night hugging, crying and petting Kia when my cell phone rang.  It was Andrea who was in NYC attending a conference with someone we all know.  She asked if Kelsey was there, as Jim Rhoades wanted to talk to her about Kia and what Isagenix Super Food might be able to do...WOW.  That was/is a moment, is one of those times when you realize just how truly loving and giving this Isagenix family is. 

 

So Andrea Hameed and Jim Rhoades...THANK YOU...last night the two of you truly were God's angels, there when  dear friends of mine needed you.
