Are You Drinking Enough Water?

As much as I sing the praise of Isagenix, and give it a great deal of the credit for my own weight loss, I could not have done it, seen the success I have seen if I had not greatly increased my own daily water intake.  Did you know that you are mostly water?  When you're born your body is about 78% water by weight. By the time you're an adult this number drops to around 50-61%.

Drinking enough water each day is a key step in wellness & detoxification. You need to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water a day; more if you get your sweat on! (i.e. someone who weighs 160 pounds needs to drink 80 ounces of purified alkaline water a day)  Do yourselves a favor, and start properly hydrating your body!  Drink water!

Last Leg of Nine Day Cleanse...Feeling Great at End of First of Two Days of Deep Cleansing

Love This Pic
Myself and several of my Isa friends have been participating in a Isagenix 9 Day Cleanse to jump start our new year weight and fitness goals.   As a part of that cleanse, there are two two day deep cleanses...on the first day of the second of these, and it has been a great day, with tomorrow ending both the two day cleanse, as well as the "Isa Guru 9 Day Cleanse Challenge.  Wish I had a magic wand, could wave it and have all 18 of those who committed to this challenge here with me on Monday morning to share that first shake after our two day Deep Cleanse...that is going to taste so good.

I've added the BBB (Bedtime Belly Buster) to my own routine.  Being under 170, and taking a hard look at myself, realize the biggest hurdle for me yet to get over is fully ridding myself of the Buddha Belly that has been with me for decades, a Buddha Belly that in the last few years had grown to an alarming size...hoping that the BBB will help me get over that last major hurdle as I hone in on my next major goal of losing enough weight to tip the scales at under 160.  The BBB is pretty simple...each night at bedtime I take one scoop of our IsaPro Whey Protein, and one scoop of calcium, mix with four ounces of warm water and chug it down (not the most delicious concoction)...that's it, nothing earth shattering, the program working (hopefully) while I sleep.

Just a Chickadee
That said, it will take more than just drinking product to lose the last of the weight, to get rid of my Buddha Belly, and tone up...that requires WORK...as in actually exercising in some fashion or another.  Today was a good day where exercise (aerobic) is concerned.  I headed out the door with my camera around 1:30 this afternoon after I'd done my second portion of "Cleanse for Life".  Had my camera (eight pounds), a bottle of the new e+ Energy Shot, one bottle of water, and three pound ankle weights...I know, daring!  Can here some of my fellow cleansers, "You ANIMAL you!"
Note*...the new e+Energy Drink is amazing...drank it down at the halfway point of my walk when I turned around to head home, and about four hours later am still full of energy and feeling motivated.
This Caught My Eye
Got home at just after four, so not quite, but close on to three hours out and about...distance wise, guessing I probably walked about six miles...not a lot of distance considering how long I was out doors, but also got a few pictures that I was happy with, so an A+ walk in my book.  once inside, did my third Cleanse for Life, and about to do my last of the day.  Two Isa Flush about an hour before bedtime, then just before bed the Belly Buster, and leaves me with just one more day and I will have successfully completed the 9 Day Cleanse Challenge...WOOT WOOT!

Monday will be a big day...will take my measurements for the 90 Day Challenge, total up just how many body inches I have shed on the last 90 plus days...will also get on the scale and take a tally and report these to the folks at the Isa Body Challenge as soon as I can get someone to take new pictures of the NEW ME.  Not so much an ending, but rather the completion of one chapter, and the beginning of a new one.  Will be interesting to see what the next 90 days of my Isagenix journey has in store for me.
STAY TUNED...

Dieting Is Hard Enough, Imagine Finding a Program That Works and is Kosher!

Though not so much in the winter time, the area that I live in all year around has a very large Jewish population during the summer months, many Jewish families coming up for the season to a summer home, or one of the numerous bungalow camps that dot Sullivan County.  Though our small hamlet of Mountaindale has a population of just over 500, we boast both a Synagogue and a Yeshiva in our community.  In my two years plus years in this community, have made many wonderful friends in the Jewish community, and through them have learned a great deal about the term Kosher, especially when it comes to food and food presentation.  (Historical record of vanishing Bungalows)
I'll admit, being a Midwestern farm boy, I would have difficulty following a Kosher diet, but would think it a far easier task if I had been raised in the Jewish religion.  As example, one should not ever have diary with meat...gulp, that sure would ruin my cheeseburger cooked out on the grill, and my wanting multiple meats at the same meal would be a no-no as I understand it.  Seriously though, a Kosher diet, the way many in the Jewish community prepare their foods is steeped in both ritual, and the Torah...the laws pertaining to food are spelled out in the Torah in the book of Leviticus.  Some of the basics would include:

  • Red meat is only considered kosher from animals that chew their food and have cloven hooves, such as cattle, lambs or goats. Under Jewish dietary laws, fish with scales are considered healthy. Fish without scales, such as shellfish, are to be avoided.
  • Duck, turkey and goose are allowed on the Kosher Diet. Eggs are only allowed if the bird is raised kosher. Dairy is only allowed from a cow that is raised kosher. Cheese must be made with vegetable-based enzymes. Only unleavened and unprocessed cereals and grains are considered kosher.
  • Meat and poultry must be slaughtered according to kosher standards to be allowed on the Kosher Diet. To be considered kosher, the animal must have no imperfections and must be slaughtered in a humane manner by a sharp knife with no imperfections. After an animal is slaughtered, it is sprinkled with salt to draw out the blood because blood is not kosher.
  • When eating on the Kosher Diet, separate serving dishes and utensils much be used for meat, fish and dairy. Most individuals on the Kosher Diet will have two sets of dishes and utensils, one used for meat meals and one used for dairy-based meals.

  • If followed correctly, with the inclusion of fresh fruits and vegetables and portion control, the Kosher Diet can be a healthy diet. For some individuals, following a Kosher Diet provides a more meaningful relationship between the food and the body.
I am sharing this because I myself wanted to know a bit more about the word Kosher (Kashrut ) which is the body of Jewish law dealing with what foods Jews can and cannot eat and how those foods must be prepared and eaten.   Why would a Midwestern farm boy living in Sullivan County New York suddenly have a keen interest in Kosher foods?
I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day and she happens to be Jewish...she commented on my weight loss, and how good I was looking.  Then she asked how I was doing it which lead to a discussion of the program I was on.  The Isagenix 30 Day Cleanse.   She was excited by my results, and asked, "Is it Kosher?"
I wasn't sure, so had to do a bit or research on the company website...my diet, the products that I personally am using are not Kosher...BUT, turns out that Isagenix has a Kosher Dieting plan and line of products.  A nice piece of information to have on hand the next time I see her in the coffee shop, but I wanted to know a bit more, wanted to have a basic understanding of what it means for a food to be Kosher, and what steps were taken to have some of our Isagenix products were certified Kosher.
Kosher certification organizations charge manufacturers a fee for kosher certification. This fee covers the expenses of researching the ingredients in the product and inspecting the facilities used to manufacture the product. There are some who have complained that these certification costs increase the cost of the products to non-Jewish, non-kosher consumers; however, the actual cost of such certification is so small relative to the overall cost of production that most manufacturers cannot even calculate it.

So, now that I know all this, feel a lot more comfortable in recommending our Kosher line of products, including our diet products to friends of mine in the Jewish community, speaking to those friends of mine about the tremendous residuel income opportunity that is available in becoming a member of my downline community.

Age Gracefully With "Product B with Telomore Support" and "Brainboost & Renewal"

As 79 million Baby Boomers close out our careers, end the 9-5 routine, it is obvious we are not the same older generation that our parents were...I still have no urge to buy pastel plaid Bermuda shorts, nor boat shoes with white socks.  As we race toward our Golden Years, we are wanting to stay younger longer, enjoy more active lives, want to live longer and be healthier.  Perhaps no bigger issue confronts us in our retirement than QUALITY OF LIFE, and a big part of maintaining our quality of life sadly is neglected...our mental faculties and our microcellular well being.  Women and men over 50...how many of us have complained of brain fog, forgetfulness, or (at least in my case) a blond moment.  You know the one, when you go into the kitchen and stop for a minute to remember why you are there.  Yet, few of us are giving our brains the attention we give to our weight, our diet and our physical fitness.  How many of us can see the aging taking place as our bodies change, seem almost to be breaking down right before our eyes?

Perhaps we just assume that forgetfulness, or losing a bit of our mental crispness just comes with the territory, and inevitable fact of growing old.  Perhaps we assume that cellular breakdown is just a part of the aging process that cannot be slowed.  What if its not, what if we can take care of our brains in much the same way we watch our diets, or take our vitamins, what if we can slow down the aging of the brain, reduce the ravages of age.  What if we can slow down the aging of our bodies, even repair some of the harm that comes with getting older?  Well, some of us believe we can.

Isagenix, working with some of the leading researchers and scientists in the world have come up with two healthy, all natural maintenance and support products.

First up is Product B...some have suggested this is the fountain of youth...I am not going to go that far, but I have been using this product, and at 57 I feel wonderful.  This, the Isalean Shakes and their 30 Day Cleanse program have seen me lose almost 30 pounds in three months, and lose four waist sizes/

What should you know about Product B Antioxidants plus Telomere Support?

Product B positively supports telomere health by combining scientific breakthroughs in telomere support and the benefits of antioxidants in youthful aging. Product B helps maintain youthful function of cells and healthy telomeres so you can live a longer, healthier life.

How can I benefit from using Product B Antioxidants plus Telomere Support?

Product B’s full spectrum of natural bioactive antioxidants helps fight the effects of free radicals and oxidative stress, which can accelerate aging and contribute to poor health.

Next up (this stuff is FABO!) is the Isagenix Brain and Sleep support!  Not sleeping well, feeling a bit cloudy headed?  This one two punch combo can help.

    Total Peace of Mind.

Combining the proven power of vigorous brain-boosting nutrients combined with a powerful melatonin and nutrient complex spray, makes the Isagenix® Brain and Sleep Support System an ideal way to achieve restful sleep while supporting healthy brain function.

    Save Your Brain!

Brain Boost & Renewal™ is a proprietary formula containing a host of brain-friendly nutrients to promote mental focus, concentration, decision-making and memory. Taken daily, Brain Boost & Renewal supports your ability to learn new information while providing dietary support for memory and overall brain health and function.

Studies show that cognitive decline begins in your thirties. The earlier you support brain health, the better. Brain Boost & Renewal provides natural dietary support for aiding memory and assisting in overall brain function, including:
    • Supports healthy brain function and optimal cognitive function*

Really Excited About New Energy Drink...It's all Natural and SAFE

If you want to know just how big Energy Drinks are, all you have to do is walk into any Sam's Club or Costco and see how much floor space they are given.  The leader of the pack for quite some time has been 5 Hour Energy which is under investigation by the FDA, the question after five deaths obviously being is it safe?  Despite this investigation, the energy drink market is huge for one big reason...young people drink it much like 79 million Baby Boomers (myself included) drink our coffee.  We rush into Star Bucks for a cup on the run, brew ourselves a cup (or two) first thing in the morning to start  our day.  Sometimes we even have a cup early in the evening just after dinner...it is our caffeine ingestion source of choice.  The younger generation reaches for a Energy Drink, with the average consumers of energy drinks ranging in age from  13-35.

As someone who loves his coffee, I know that not all coffees are created equal...the same holds true for Energy Drinks, and just because 5 Hour Energy is currently the leader of the pack, that fact does not make it the best choice when reaching for an energy drink.

This weekend at the Isagenix NYKO 2013 gathering in Phoenix Arizona, Isagenix (my company) introduced what I believe to be the best, healthiest and all natural Energy Drink on the market in their e+ Energy Shot.  A bold claim for a product out just four days, but lets take a look at it.

So how does e+ Energy Shot compare?

e+ Energy Shot reduces the effects of fatigue with naturally-sourced caffeine and a proprietary blend of adaptogenic botanicals. e+ Energy Shot contains no added sugars, artificial colors, sweeteners or flavoring found in other energy drinks. This proprietary, energy-boosting formula delivers:
    • A Quick energy boost that lasts for hours
    • A kick-start to your workout
    • Improved focus and physical performance
    • Clarity and alertness
    • A safe, effective and natural energy boost
The two key components of what makes  e+ Energy Shot the healthier natural choice of energy drink are its adaptogenic botanicals, and the absence of added sugars, artificial colors (toxins), sweetners or flavoring.   The second advantage is clear to see, but can see some scratching their heads and asking themselves, what are adaptogenic botanicals?

For a herb  to be classified a adaptogenic botanical, there are three general guidelines.

    1. Herb cannot cause harm or place additional stress on the body.

    2. The herb must have the ability to  help the body adapt to a variety of stresses, both environmental and psychological in nature.

    3. The herb must work in a nonspecific (targeted) way. Which is to say, it should support our whole body, including all  major systems (nervous, immune, hormonal, etc.), and help regulate body's functions.

Generally, herbal adaptogens should have a 'normalizing' effect on the body, not over stimulate, nor depress the body's systems.

Imagine reaching for an Energy Drink that is natural and healthy, devoid of toxins, free of added sugars, artificial colors, sweetners or flavoring, and there is only one choice, and that is the Isagenix e+ Energy Shot.  To learn more, or order you e+ Energy Shot, click here.

Sharing Last Post From NYKO Almost Live Blog...Was Fun Blogging the Event

NYKO 2013 Recap...On To Celebration in August

NYKO 2013 as they say is in the record books, those who attended packing suitcases, or already on the road or in a plane.  The three big BUZZ catchers are pretty easy to ascertain.
    • Isagenix e+ Energy Drink stole the show, and their #ShareTheShot hashtag on twitter a great idea.  Just wish that everyone in Isagenix had been on Twitter when the product was officially launched putting out tweets so that we could have trended both #ShareTheShot and #NYKO2013.
    • Next up was the announcement that next year's NYKO is going to be held in Dallas...would love to attend that event, but my up line mentor is suggesting that Las Vegas Celebration might be a better fit.
    • The announcement that Isagenix is declaring war on short telomeres!  This should be number one on the list, and is for me.  Just here in America Isagenix Product B can help 79 million aging Baby Boomers.
    • Celebration...this event is going to be held in August in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Should be a grand time, and it is my understanding that it is a much larger gathering of the Isagenix family than NYKO is.
The official recap with links to appropriate articles on IsaFYI.

More money. New products. Three new IsaBody Challenge® categories.

Our 2013 “Focus on Your Future” New Year Kick Off was packed with energy, tons of new promotions and products and so much more. If you missed out, check out all of the announcements from the event below:

Hope everyone who has visited here the past few days has enjoyed the content.  Been fun blogging this event, and looking forward to doing it again next year when NYKO2014 finds itself in Dallas Texas...what an appropriate host city for us, in the state where, as they say, everything is BIG.

Isagenix...Time For Us To Go Viral.

Sharing this here from my 2013 NYKO Blog which will be retired at midnight tonight.  We as associates need to learn more about Social Media and tweeting.  For those who agree, would encourage to you join my new Facebook Group, "IsaTwitterGeeks".

NYKO 2013 Wrapping Up...A Personal Observation On Social Media and Isagenix

Anyone who knows me knows that I have fallen in love with Isagenix...the company, the products, and the people involved with it.  What is not to love...the product works (for me), and the company stands behind the product, and if you are involved in the business end of it (which I am) they give you all the support and tools you need to be successful.  The people...sterling.   I was welcomed into the Isagenix Facebook Family with open arms from day one, and they have been there every step of the way in my first 90 days.  When you care about something, someone, or you love a company or product, when you see a glaring problem, you speak up, rather than simply fade into the sunset.

In the last 48-72 hours I have spent a lot of hours tracking NYKO 2013 on both Facebook and Twitter, and as much as it pains me to say this, when it comes to Social Media (for the most part) Isagenix and all the wonderful people associated with it DO NOT know how to properly and adequately harness and utilize Social Media.  Lets use the launch of our new E+ Energy Drink on Friday.

Not sure how many Associates, Consultants, Managers and Executives we have in the company, but lets put the number at 50,000.  Imagine for a second everyone of those people on Twitter almost simultaneously tweeting out the hashtags #ShareTheShot and #NYKO2013.   If that would have happened, if all of us would have continued doing that all weekend long, chances are we would have been TRENDING on Twitter....trust me, that would have been HUGE, would have knocked the launch of our Isagenix E+ Energy Drink OUT OF THE BALLPARK!  Every person on twitter worth their salt watches and checks out what is trending.  Not only that, once something starts trending, once people start CHECKING IT OUT, it goes viral.

For those using Tweetdeck, would encourage you to do a search for NYKO2013 and ShareTheShot and put a column up for these two phrases.  When you consider that we had some 1500 plus folks attending NYKO, the number of tweets using those hashtags is deplorable.  Take the ones up that I put up from some 1800-2000 miles away, and our social media presence on twitter was DISMAL. We can and WE MUST do better at harnessing the power that is Social Media.

As for Facebook...sad to say, but not much better.

We have our IsaGeeks, but where are our TwitterGeeks?  Where were two or three dedicated talented tweeters whose only job it was at NYKO, whose only job it is seven days a week is TWEETING?  I know there was a break out session at NYKO on Social Media, but that is not enough.  Where is a document in the back office teaching associates A) How to use twitter, B) How to farm twitter for QUALITY followers, and C) THIS IS IMPORTANT...how to write a great tweet.  In social media, when everything else  filtered out, it all comes down to GREAT CONTENT.

I would encourage someone in corporate to look at our competition...specifically, look at the presence that ViSalus has on Twitter...they are kicking our butt, and there are times during the day when their little nasty grams attacking our company will sit in our #Isagenix column for 20-30 minutes at a time because WE ARE NOT TWEETING.  Seriously...imagine someone going on twitter, doing search for Isagenix and when they get there they see ViSalus TWEETS!

I love Isagenix, I love our products, and I would beseech those who run the company too find some people (such as myself) who have been on Twitter since almost the beginning, and work with them to see that every associate, manager, consultant and executive adding tweeting to their tool boxes, and know how to leverage it.  to that end, I have created a new group on Facebook called IsaTwitterGeeks.  This group should go viral by the end of today, every person, every team in Isagenix should be a part of it...the goal....TEACH PEOPLE TO TWEET!

I hope to see this group have numbers into the thousands by the end of today, and it will if each of you takes this article, take the link shared above, the link to this article and starts sending it out to your teams, posting it on Facebook, shares it on Twitter.  There are a lot of things in life I do not know about, but I know Tweeting...hope to see you ALL THERE.

Isagenix Isa Body Challenge...Reflecting Back on 90 Days

Me a Few Weeks Into Challenge
Sitting here listening to John Lennon's "Stand by Me" as I reflect back on the last 90 days, my own participation in the Isagenix Isa Body Challenge...sad that the 90 days are over gone away far to fast, yet thrilled at the new man I see standing in front of me when I look in the mirror.  It has truly been a life changing event for me, one filled with a certain amount of fear, but also a great deal of pride at where I have come.

Will take my measurements and weight myself at the end of the 9 Day Cleanse for Life I am in the midst of and weigh myself, so the final statistics are not in, but one but has to look at me to see the difference.  I've shrunk, but in a very good way, my once noticeable Budda Belly all but gone, the new smaller 36" waist pants bought at the 60 day mile marker already too big for me.  I still wear a large shirt, but they are hanging a bit on me, the sleeve seams no longer fitting tight on the shoulder blades.

    Taken Around Halloween
I would be lying if I said this has been easy, though parts of it were, days, sometimes weeks breezing by without a problem, then BOOM, a brick wall that I would run smack dab into.

Thanksgiving was one of those times...I love cooking/baking, being in the kitchen, and have traditions that go back decades.  Pumpkin and Pecan pie, homemade of course.  Deviled eggs, sour cream mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, stuffing just like my Mom used to make, a large turkey because the table just doesn't feel right with a small one in the center of the table, olives of various variety, fresh green beans with almond slivers sprinkled over the top.  I was good (good being relative), had just one plate of food, and not overloaded.  Yet, a part of me wanted to FEAST.  I waited, had desert later in the evening and was so tempted the next morning to have a slice or two of pie with my morning coffee, but resisted the urge, having my IsaLean shake instead.

Stay FOCUSED on the goal, keep your eye on the prize.

    A December Pic...Changing
Came into December weighing 175...met my goal for November but just barely.  That was one of those down times.  Holidays are hard, and December in some ways is one big month of Holidays, and with my Mom gone, I long ago decided I would carry on her traditions...miss her a whole lot sometimes even though she has been gone since 1993...WOW...20 years as of this May 3rd, 2013.

Tradition is important.  Spent 3 days baking dozens upon dozens of cookies and Mom's Christmas Morning coffee cake...I love her coffee cake, and in the past would DEVOUR IT...here it is January, gave three fourths of it away, have had a few small pieces, but there is still some left in the freezer.  Times change.

By the time December 26th rolled around, was really not sure I could make my own goal of hitting 170 pounds by December 31st.  I stuck to the program...mostly...but everywhere I went there were all my favorite treats.  I love Christmas ham...brown sugar glazed, pineapples and maraschino cherries candied in the baking ever so tempting, plates of cookies and cakes, and memories of Mom smiling as I went back for a second plate, or found my way into the kitchen after midnight to make myself up a plate of leftovers because everything was just so good.  Couple all this with the fact that I love food, and am guilty at times of finding comfort in food, and the holidays were a rough time.

Six days to reach my goal of 170, and I had actually GAINED one pound from the beginning of December!  Spent most of that day and the next letting self doubt creep in, started listening to those voices we need to avoid, but often don't...luckily, I'd also decided to do a two day cleanse on the 26th and 27th, and stuck to it.  On the morning of the 28th after two days on Cleanse for Life I got on the scale...173 POUNDS...I can do this, 170 is reachable, I got four days!

    Motivation is a great thing!

I got on my stationary bike, cranked up my consumption of water, and religiously followed the program as I worked hard on being a product of the product, my coach's (Andrea Hameed) words burned into my mind...Chocolate or Vanilla.

In a perfect story, I would have met my goal, but fact is when I woke up on January 1, 2013 I was just shy of where I had wanted to be weighing 171 pounds.  The old me would have played the FAILURE card on myself...but, as I said, these 90 days have started to change me into who I have always been meant to be.  I went out to the kitchen, had my Isalean shake and got on with my day knowing it would only be a day or two and I would for the first time since the 1980's find myself getting on the scale and weighing under 170 pounds!

Certain things stick in my head, make me smile.  I bought two new belts when I went shopping, both of them 36 inch.   One of them has six holes in it...I was in the second one when I put it on the first time.  Last week I put the belt on, and it is in the sixth hole (inside hole), the belt now too BIG FOR ME!  That same morning I took out an old favorite denim shirt that I had bought back in 1998 at the Gap store in Plattsburgh NY.  Had not worn the shirt since 2004...NINE YEARS.  It fits, and very comfortably I might add.

NYKO 2013 is, too a great deal, over with as I write this...sure, it goes on through tomorrow, but most of this late night and tomorrow is all about goodbyes for those who were lucky enough to attend.  I sit here tonight a bit sad and melancholy as my personal 90 Day Challenge comes to an end.  Through the tears, the laughing the victories, it has been ONE HELL OF A GREAT TIME for me.  I know my journey to a new me is not over, that more victories lay ahead...but, I am sad that these very special 90 days are over, sad at having to say Goodbye to a challenge that has shown me there is a beautiful, wonderful person who has always been inside of me who is starting too emerge. But even in my melancholy I am Thankful, and know that at the end of the 90 Day Challenge I am walking into my future a winner.

Some Special Thank You's on This Special Night

First, Andrea Hameed who introduced me to Isagenix...her own story, her testimonial touched me, woke me up, and sparked something inside of me that made me say yes to Isagenix and the 90 Day Challenge.
